- Master Degree (Postgraduate) in the relevant medical specialty
- Diploma holders may be considered if eligible candidates are unavailable
- 40% seats reserved for Bihar State Health Service Cadre doctors
- 40% seats reserved for doctors completing PG Residency from Bihar Medical Colleges
- 20% seats reserved for candidates with PG degrees from recognized institutions outside Bihar
